How to use IELTS Writing Task 2 feedback
Useful feedback connects a specific observation to your own writing and tells you what to try next.
Review the question before the language
Highlight each part of the assigned prompt. Check that your position and main paragraphs answer it. An essay can contain accurate English and still fail to address the task. IELTS Task 2 asks for at least 250 words in the official test. Our shortened practice allocates 20 minutes to writing, rather than simulating the complete Writing test.
Use the four writing criteria as a checklist
Official Task 2 criteria are Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Look for task relevance, clear paragraph progression, appropriate word choice, and controlled grammar.
An AI practice review is not an official examiner score. When advice identifies a weakness, find the cited passage in your answer before changing it.
An original worked example
Example sentence: “Public transport should be cheaper because it is better for cities.” The claim is clear but the reason is broad. A focused exercise is to explain how lower fares might affect commuters’ choices.
One possible expansion: “Lower fares could encourage commuters to use buses instead of cars, reducing traffic on busy routes.” This adds a mechanism; it does not prove the claim. Continue with a relevant concrete example that you can explain.
This illustration is not a customer result. Your own revision should preserve your meaning and fit the assigned question.
Turn feedback into an exercise
Choose one priority, rewrite the affected paragraph, then compare it with the original. Check whether the revision answers the question more clearly. Keep useful language from your own work instead of replacing the whole essay.
